My take on Masterchef Italia!
Masterchef si o Masterchef no, this is the question? And as this post is mostly about a debate this TV show started in Italy, the English speaking readers will forgive me if for the first time I write this post in Italian.
In a nutshell, the two main positions on the Italian debate are represented by TV critics who love the show because, according to them, it promotes talented people and a good number of food critics who think the show does not portrait the real hard work and long time efforts required to become a chef. Below, I try to remind everyone that this is simply a TV show, good entertainment, not a food academy, and if this convinces even just one wannabechef to give up the idea, well done to Masterchef indeed!
Tonight, I will watch it as usual and have some fun, besides a Chef from Modica, Accursio Capraro, will be on the short afternoon slot on Masterchef Magazine.
Dopo gli entusiasmi della critica televisiva alla prima edizione del format, Masterchef 2 ha svegliato la critica enogastronomica Italiana che, contrariamente ai colleghi TV, sembra poco entusiasta. La cosa che mi viene in mente in entrambe i casi è uno spot pubblicitario Inglese che diceva "Calm down dear, it's a commercial!". In questo caso direi: "Calm down it's entertainment baby!"
Gli entusiasti del talent parlano del primo show televisivo in cui il merito è premiato da esperti e non dal televoto.
Adesso, se per merito si intende avere la fortuna di azzeccare un piatto ogni 10 o andare avanti nella gara perché altri hanno fatto peggio, o sostenere la pressione e ricordarsi i nomi delle erbe, etc...direi che sarebbe il caso di calmare gli entusiasmi.
Ai critici che sostengono che si offre una cattiva interpretazione dell'arte culinaria che non può esplodere in un minuto ma è frutto di anni ed anni di esperienza e studio, dico altrettanto di smorzare le critiche perché questo è solo un PROGRAMMA TELEVISIVO, non è un' accademia culinaria, non è un concorso fra professionisti, è semplicemente televisione.
Una cosa certa è che questo programma televisivo apre una finestra sul mondo delle centinaia, se non migliaia, di persone comuni che sognano di aprire un ristorante. Questa è una domanda che mi fanno molti clienti dei corsi di cucina: "quando aprirai un tuo ristorante?" La risposta è semplice...Fossi matta! Ma sapete quanto è duro mandare avanti un ristorante? I want a life;)! Questo è l'aspetto che mi lascia più perplessa, e se Masterchef riesce a convincerne solo qualcuno a desistere è già un successo.
Basterebbe riflettere sui tanti chef affermati che cercano altre strade, la TV, i foodshops, finanche il teatro.... perché dirigere un ristorante cari miei è faticosissimo!
