Chilies...

Since summer we have been experimenting with some chili plants in Sicily and Katia brought back the latest results after her last trip back to Sicily this month (Katia's mother is the kind caretaker when we are away). The results are interesting although we have no idea why or what produces or led to them! We really need to investigate more...

So the long ones give the classic chili taste, the small rounder ones provide an excellent sweet taste while the tiny ones are probably illegal :-)

Still they each find their place in a dish and I am even begining to do something I considered completely crazy when I was a child. The "chili by the side of the dish which you slice in litlle bits and have with your food while sweating furiously" routine... I don't know what it is but I somehow enjoy it now. Katia on the other hand is too cool for this kind of behaviour. I unfortunately still forget that I have just touched chilies and will absentmindedly rub my eyes...I guess I still have some maturing to do...
