3 days cooking in Sicily - Nonna Elvira's Cooking Secrets

The program has been designed to offer you an intensive cooking experience in the kitchen with Katia, a tour of the beautiful baroque city of Modica with a visit to its chocolate heaven, Antica Dolceria Bonajuto, while leaving you enough time to explore the town or the surrounding area on your own.

Day One

 We welcome you to Modica with a first taste of Sicilian delicacies, then straight into the kitchen for an afternoon cooking class followed by dinner.

Day 2

We start the morning with our second cooking class followed by lunch.
In the afternoon we discover the secrets behind Modica's famous chocolate and tour the city with a stop at the temple of Sicilian chocolate Antica Dolceria Bonajuto.

Day 3

We say goodbye with a special Sicilian breakfast and will be happy to provide you with advice and info regarding the rest of your time in Sicily.

Our cookery school and accommodation are in the beautiful city of Modica - a Unesco World Heritage site in South-Eastern Sicily with a rich culinary tradition and wonderful baroque architecture. The property has been restored to its original 1930s feel, when Katia's grandparents bought it, but the building dates back to the 17th century.

It has an elegant living space and a spacious kitchen, both with domed ceilings and direct access to the terrace, which offers spectacular views of Modica's baroque San Giorgio Cathedral, a bathroom in the living area, a laundry and 3 comfortable en-suite bedrooms.

Location

The loveSicily Cookery School is located right in the centre of Modica, some 80 steps up from the 'corso' crossing the historical centre. Shops, bars and restaurants as well as the main sites of Modica are within easy reach. Please note that Modica develops up the slopes of a Valley and steps are hard to avoid. If you feel that this may be a concern please get in touch for advice.

Rooms & Facilities

The Cookery School has three double rooms - each one with its own unique flavour. So unique that we actually gave each one its own name - Cannella, Peperoncino and Vaniglia!

The rooms are all en-suite with air-conditioning, heating and a flat-screen LCD TV. Two of the rooms (Vaniglia and Peperoncino) can accommodate for two single beds each rather than a double bed.

There is wireless Internet access throughout the house.

Cost

Course costs are €488.00 per person for two sharing a room and €610.00 for a single participant. 

The three days culinary experience  can be organised any time of the year, provided we have availability.

We require a minimum of two participants to run it.

What is included:

Two cooking classes followed by a three course meal with drinks included, one Modica chocolate class.

Accommodation at the cooking school for two nights in one of our en-suite rooms with breakfast included.

Tour of Modica

What is not included:

Transportation to and from Modica. (Transfers with drivers can be organised upon request).

One dinner. (We can suggest various restaurant options in Modica or the surrounding area, from Michelin star restaurants to local trattorie and pizzerie. We can take care of reservations for you if required.)

Terms and Conditions

The cancellation policy is as follows:
(i) 80 days before the start date for the course we will return you the deposit but keep an administration fee of 50Euro;
If you cancel between:
(ii) 79 and 31 days the deposit is unfortunately lost
(iii) up to 30 days prior to departure 45% of the price
(iv) 29 days to 14 days prior to departure 60% of the price
(v) 13 days or less prior to departure, or on departure date, 100% of the price.
