Via Ritiro N.7 Progress

Our long-term project of giving loveSicily a permanent location for our cookery courses has taken a huge step forward last week.

After a long 10 months that the house was covered in scaffolding most of it is now off. While there is still some way to go this was undoutedly a symbolic moment. We chose an ash brown colour for the outside walls that fits with the character of the house and the historical centre of Modica. It is also, we think, a perfect match to the brass pipes and air passages.

In addition, last week we paid a visit to the artists preparing the ceramics for the house in Caltagirone and saw the first sample - which is just as we would hope it should be.

That combined with these amazing views of Etna from Caltagirone, as well as the breathtaking countryside made for a great visit to that part of Sicily.

We also discovered a great new place that is ideally placed between Caltagirone and Piazza Armerina. This is a greatfarm in the middle of a nature reserve and just the kind of place we feel can create that special Sicilian experience.

In the meantime work at Via Ritiro is moving ahead at full pace and we hope to soon have the pictures of those tiles in their rightful place in the kitchen.
