Love Pasta

Tasting the food

After the cooking class we sit around the table to enjoy the food we prepared with a glass of Sicilian wine.

The lesson

All classes are taught in English and/or Italian, and start with a short introduction to Sicilian food history and traditions.

The hands-on lessons last about 3 hours with a small break in the middle to sit down and relax outside on the terrace overlooking San Giorgio with a drink of wine or coffee.

At the end of the session, we sit down and enjoy our meal paired to Sicilian wine, enjoying the breathtaking view of Modica's Saint George cathedral.

The menu

During the pasta class we talk about different kinds of flour, ancient grains and methods to make pasta.

We prepare three different pastas, for example 'cavatelli', 'spaghetti alla chitarra' and 'maltagliati', but this can vary from class to class, so get in touch if you have specific requests.

We also make three different type of sauce for each kind of pasta we prepare, usually Sicilian traditional ones in theme with the season.

Things to know

The loveSicily Cookery School is located right in the centre of the beautiful city of Modica - a Unesco World Heritage site in South-Eastern Sicily with a rich culinary tradition and wonderful baroque architecture.

The property has been restored to its original 1930s feel, when Katia's grandparents bought it, but the building dates back to the 17th century. It has an elegant living space and a spacious kitchen, both with domed ceilings and direct access to the terrace, which offers spectacular views of Modica's baroque San Giorgio Cathedral.

Please note that Modica develops up the slopes of a Valley and steps are hard to avoid. The school is located right in the centre of Modica, some 80 steps up from the 'corso' crossing the historical centre. If you feel that this may be a concern please get in touch for advice.
