Fussy about oranges!

Well, I am also fussy about a thousand other things;)! But really, Sicily spoiled me when it comes to oranges. I love Sicilian varieties, Tarocco, Moro and Sanguinello and I like them only when they are in season and come straight from the tree. They are firm and full of flavour, there is just no comparison to the ones coming out of a big refrigerator!
To know more about what I am talking about you can read the "Foodie guide to Arance" I wrote for Italy Magazine a while ago. Here I simply want to mention how I used oranges on a daily basis this winter.

Well of course, the best and easiest thing to enjoy them is just eating them or making a fantastic freshly squized juice. I also made some orange and almond biscuits, some small cakes with orange flavoured sugar frosting, a nice pork and orange loin, a classic chicken orange and Marsala, a traditional oranges and fennel salads, candid orange peel and orange marmalade. Marmalade is the best way for me to enjoy the quality of Sicilian oranges even when they are not in season anylonger. Well if you manage to come to Sicily in winter, just stop at a fruit shop and buy yourself a fantastic orange treat!
