Via Ritiro N.7 enters a new chapter of its life

Via Ritiro N.7 is an old family home in the centre of Modica. It's just a stone's throw away from the Theatre Garibaldi and opposite the imposing Chiesa di San Pietro, whose entrance is guarded by the statues of the 12 apostles.

We really don't know enough about the history of the house outside the last 70 years during which Katia's family have been living there. We hope to discover more about the house and its past inhabitants while we are restoring it. It has now passed to our care, and we hope to revive it to its former glory.

And the house is badly in need for restoration. Since Katia's grandfather had to move out almost ten years ago the house has not been lived in, with too many memories for Katia's mother and aunt to be able to revisit it. We will come back to this story some day in the future as well.

For now, let's just focus on the house itself.

The two main rooms of the house are the living room and the main bedroom, whose beautiful domes are almost eight meters high. Both rooms lead to the terrazza of the house, with its amazing views over the centre of Modica.

In the ground floor there are also a kitchen, a bathroom and an extra little room. Upstairs there are two more bedrooms and some more amazing views of Modica.

This is it for now. More on the house and our plans as they develop!
