Mizzica!

Last week, Alfredo and Angelo from Mizzica.com came to visit the cooking school in Modica.
They have recently launched their website which offers access to top quality Sicilian products on-line and during our meeting we discussed about all sorts of products and ideas.
Obviously, we also visited Antica Dolceria Bonajuto for a tasting of Modica's best traditional chocolate and a chat with Pierpaolo Ruta. Needless to say, they went back to Acireale with a selection of chocolate bars to taste and share with friends and families.

During the meeting, I found out that Alfredo was born and raised in Acireale, a nice town on the coast near Catania, and moved to Dublin few years ago to work. He loves Ireland, but as he puts it "Sicily is always my home", so the idea to start a new business with his friend Angelo is also a way to get closer and closer to coming back home. I think I have heard that before ;)?

The guys did not come to visit empty handed and brought me a basket with a lovely selection of products already available on their website. They are currently working to add more products, looking for the best Sicily has to offer.

In Sicilian "Mizzica" is a word to express surprise, excitement or shock. These guys are working so hard, I am sure they will surprise themselves with the results.

Good luck guys, hope to meet again soon.
