Ocean's 12 - Reality meets fiction

At Scopello, fiction and reality merged briefly in the past few days (as well as paparazzi and the locals) - the local police got worried because known elements of the local 'mafia' family where seen lingering around the area of the film set. Knowning how Catherine Zeta-Jones can often get touchy with her privacy (in the UK one well known gossip rag had to form out one million pounds for pictures of her eating a cake) the police decided to act swiftly and offer protection to the set.

9 days to go!

Just realised that in 9 days both Katia and I are saying goodbye to the increasingly flaky English weather, and saying hello to Sicilian and New York weather respectively! Katia is going to Sicily, while I have to fly off to New York for a conference (on Autonomous Agents and Multi-Agent Systems in case you are wondering) and will then re-join her 10 days later.

Ocean's 12 - sicilian version

Apparently, Sicily has not seen these many 'famous' people since the making of the Godfather. This time round its not Marlon Brando and Al Pacino, but George Clooney, Brad Pit, Julia Roberts, and Catherine Zeta-Jones. The stars of Ocean's 12 (which I am guessing the follow up to Ocean's 11!) are to film some of the scenes at the tonnara di Scopello - a beautiful setting by the sea near Palermo, where, as the name suggests, tuna was fished.

We can only hope that Warner Bros and the related 'celebrities' will treat the place gently and leave it as they found it.
