Profumati Tramonti. Sicilian dinner in herbs & capers nursery
Friday 17th July, “Gli Aromi”, a nursery close to the town of Scicli in the province of Ragusa now famous all over Italy for offering caper plants and other wonderful herbs, will host the event "Profumati Tramonti". A special dinner dedicated to herbs and prepared by top Sicilian Chef Carmelo Chiaramonte will be served in the nursery with live music by the Open Trios.

Today we celebrate San Giovanni, Saint John day, with processions taking palce in many towns around Sicily.
Just in the Province of Ragusa, where our cookery school is based, there are 4 processions, one in Ragusa, one in Monterosso Almo and in Pozzallo.

Greek plays season in Syracuse comes to an end

The tradition of performing classic Greek plays in the amazing atmosphere of Syracuse's Greek theatre continued this year with Medea By Euripides, Oedipus at Colonus By Sophocles and The Suppliants by Aeschylus.
World famous Italian architect Massimiliano Fuksas made his debut as a scenographer preparing the stage designs for both Medea and Oedipus at Colonus and the costumes for the latter were designed by the acclaimed fashion designer Nicola Luccarini.

Picturing Sicily

Film directors and photographers have often been inspired by Sicily and many have used it as a backdrop to their films or placed it center stage in their photographs.

It is one of those places where great pictures are easy to come by: Mediterranean sunlight, evocative landscapes, interesting architecture, sharp social contrasts, intense religious rituals, and faces, looks, postures and gestures that are steeped in history and tell a full story in just a frame.

Note di Notte Festival in Ragusa

Sicily is in full summer bloom with festivals, concerts and other shows taking place in the many squares, open theatres and villas around the island.
One of the most interesting one is the Note di Notte Festival which is now in its fifth edition. This includes eleven concerts taking place in villas, wineries and masserie spread around the Ragusa area.

The event is organised by the association The Entertainer and includes also painting and handicraft exhibitions, tasting of local food and wine.
