I simply wanted to share with you the photo of these fantastic Christmas lights in Modica. If you are in the area do not miss it.
It is on every day until the 6th of January, from 6pm until 2am, and if you have the time to climb up the steps of Cartellone, the neighbourhood just opposite Saint Peter's Church, you will get a priviledged view of the decorated Church facade within the centre of Modica and its amazing baroque architecture.

Every year, in February, Noto celebrates the anniversary of the death of San Corrado, its patron Saint, with a procession dating back to the year 1644. The same procession, however, takes place also the last Sunday of August, to remember the day when an official messsanger from the Vatican brought the news that Corrado Confalonieri had been officially made Saint.

The city is now preparing for the big day which is also a chance for the people of Noto who now live elsewhere and for tourists to see the procession during the holidays.

Last week-end on the opposite side of the island, in Trapani, the event Stragusto celebrated street food with the first Mediterranean street food festival.
Sicily is famous for the quality and variety of traditional street food. You buy them from street hawkers in the markets, especially in Palermo and Catania, or in dedicated shops (rosticcerie). There is an amazing range: panelle, arancine, scacci, sfincioni, focacce, crespelle, pane ca meusa, etc.

In, September 2005, a Sicilian bar was voted Italy's best coffee bar of the year. This was Spinnato in Palermo which remained in the top 20 in 2008 with two other Sicilian bars in the South-East of the island, Caffé Sicilia in Noto and Pasticceria Di Pasquale
